MARK BITTMAN

Mark Bittman is one of the premier food writers of our day.  He has authored numerous cookbooks, as well as blog posts, books and articles covering various topics including food policy, agriculture, health, recipes and more.  He was a New York Times columnist for years, penning The Minamalist, and an Op-Ed contributor and food writer for the magazine.  He has also guest lectured, appeared in TV series and specials, and created food videos for the NY Times website.  His viewpoint, like other writers like Pollan, is that good, healthy food does not have to be complicated, and can be very tasty, if you use a variety of fresh, seasonal ingredients and plenty of flavor enhancers like herbs and spices...and creativity.  His "How To Cook Everything" book is the "Joy of Cooking" of our time, which is also available as a mobile app.

 
MARION NESTLE

Marion Nestle (no relation to the food company), is an acclaimed author, professor and lecturer - her credits are too numerous to list here.  Read her blog, Food Politics, [also title of her book], where she posts frequently - and you will learn more about food politics in the US and elsewhere.  Worth checking is the archive of posts and links - the handy clickable word cloud allows you to focus on specific subjects.

MICHAEL POLLAN

Acclaimed author, journalist, speaker, activist and professsor at University of California / Berkeley.  One of his quotes [from his book "Food Rules] sums up his philosophy: "Eat Food.  Not too much.  Mostly Plants." Which of course means eat real food.  In reasonable portions.  And easy on the animal products.  Become enlightened from reading his books, as well as on his website, Resources & Articles.
