FROM THE GROWERS - Legumes
Common legumes include beans, lentils, peas, and peanuts. These foods are nutritional powerhouses - a good source of protein, fiber, carbohydrates and other valuable nutrients. You may also hear them referred to as a "pulse," which is the edible seed that growns in a pod - specifically beans, lentils, garden peas and chickpeas. Other legumes include alfalfa and clover, used primarily for grazing by animals, and lupins - a beautiful purple garden flower. So for us humans - snack on legumes, cook and serve them, but most importantly - enjoy their unique taste and good nutrition!
peanuts
While "nut" is in their name, they are technically legumes, botanically related to beans and peas. But since they are eaten as nuts, click HERE to go to the NUTS section.
